HOLY WEEK AND EASTER in the Ridgeway Group

 

Sunday 9 April – PALM SUNDAY

Gather from 10.30am in the Market Square for the Blessing of Palms and Procession  through the town

11am.      United Benefice Eucharist, joint with the Methodists,

6.30pm.  An evening service for Palm Sunday; music, readings and prayer, at Sarn

 

Wednesday 12 April

                7pm.       Passover Supper at Bishop’s Castle (for those who have booked; £6.00 pp)

 

Maundy Thursday 13 April

                7.30pm. Eucharist with stripping of the altar  at Bishop’s Castle

                                followed by a vigil in the Prayer Chapel until 10pm.

Good Friday 14 April

                             Gather from 10.30am for hot cross buns and coffee in the Parish Church then

                11am       “Way of the Cross” through Bishop’s Castle

                                                                      followed by simple lunch in Methodist Hall

                                                      2pm.     The Last Hour at Lydbury North, with the Proclamation of the Cross

                                                      8pm      “Passio” The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to John

                                                                      by Arvo Part, on CD sung in Latin by Tonus Peregrinus

                                                                      in Mainstone church, where the special atmosphere will be lit by candlight for the

                                                                       occasion, which lasts about one hour

                              Sunday 16 April - EASTER DAY

                                                      9.30am            CW Eucharist                        Sarn

                                                      9.30am            BCP Holy Communion      Edgton

                                                      9.30am            CW Eucharist                        Mainstone

                                                      11am                 Family Communion           Bishop’s Castle

HOLY WEEK AND EASTER

is best kept as a corporate time of worship as we reflect upon the great sacrifice of our Lord. Be prepared to travel and share in the events and services of the Week in each others churches. Let us grow in devotion to Our Lord and in knowledge and love of one another at this special time of the Christian Year.

 

Tue 18 April  Vital meeting of the World Religions exhibition teams 7.30pm in St John’s Church BC.

Wed 19 April Contemplative Prayer 7.30pm St John’s BC

Sun 23 April – 2nd Sun of Easter

9.30am    BCP Holy Communion              Edgton

11am       Family Communion                   Bishop’s Castle

WORLD RELIGIONS EXHIBITION St John’s Bishop’s Castle 29 April – 20 May 2006

The exhibition will be opened by the Bishop of Ludlow at 11am on Saturday 29 April

There will be a united benefice service celebrating world faiths at 11am on Sunday 30 April

(NB fifth Sunday - no other services in the benefice that day)
